Lancaster County Deputy Wins Two Academy Awards

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Deputy Preston Simpson won the J.P Strom Award and the Director’s Physical Fitness Award at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy on June 20, 2014.  The J.P Strom award is given to the recruit that maintains the highest test average over the grueling 12 week Basic Law Enforcement class.  The Fitness award is given to the recruit that completes an obstacle course with the fastest time and who must also complete a 3 mile run in less than 25 minutes.  It is a rare feat for one recruit to win multiple awards at the academy.

“We are extremely proud of Deputy Simpson, “ said Sheriff Faile.  “The awards he won represent how hard he worked while he was at the academy, and also represent the type of officers we are actively recruiting to work at our agency.  Job well done.”
